Meet Her Mood Mentor

Hey, I'm Jes!

Hi, it’s me…Jes but you might know me as Her Mood Mentor

I’m your integrative menstrual health specialist. It wasn’t long ago I felt lost when it came to understanding my cycle, how it was affecting my body, & because I didn’t understand my body I felt stuck.

I suffered from mood swings, depression, irritability, rage, and more for two weeks out of the month, every month. I knew I had to make a change and took it upon myself to learn about my body & how it was affecting me.

When I first started learning about my body I was shocked to learn at the age of 28 there were 4 phases of the menstrual cycle. I also had no idea that stress hormones impacted sex hormones & that my hormones could lead to severe psychological + physical symptoms. I even learned I’d been incorrectly identifying my body parts for years.

After going so long without knowing the first thing about how my body worked, I felt like a victim inside my own body. It even held me back from advocating for myself properly & confidently medically & in intimate relationships.

I couldn’t believe nobody had taught me this information before, and that’s why I knew I had to teach others the knowledge I know is lacking from the health curriculum you learned in school.

It’s time to start learning how to properly support your body through learning about your unique lab results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your hair contains all the minerals present in your body including nutritional minerals as well as toxic heavy me talk. HTMA is a a laboratory test that measures this mineral content in the hair. With this info, we gain insight into your body’s metabolic process. HTMA provides us with you’re bio-individual nutritional status & how efficiently your body systems are working.

Blood serum labs give us information about the state of your body systems but only at the exact moment that the blood is drawn. Blood only reports what is being transported in the blood at the time of the test. Blood serum labs provide helpful data for important health markers like thyroid function & glucose function but is not ideal for mineral testing.

HTMA results provide a 3-4 month window of data rather than a snapshot. When it comes to looking at minerals, HTMA is preferred to blood or urine lab tests.

Functional blood serum lab testing differs from traditional blood tests in its approach and scope. Traditional blood tests are typically focused on measuring specific markers or diagnosing specific diseases. They often follow standardized reference ranges based on population averages. In contrast, functional blood serum lab testing looks at the functional aspects of the blood and evaluates the interplay between various markers. It may utilize narrower reference ranges that are based on optimal health rather than average values. Functional testing aims to identify imbalances, underlying root causes, and potential dysfunctions that may not be apparent in traditional tests, allowing for a more personalized and preventive approach to healthcare.

Once you have completed the labs it usually takes about 2 weeks for me to receive the results.

Whether functional blood serum lab testing is covered by insurance can vary depending on several factors, including the specific insurance provider, the type of test being performed, and the purpose of the testing.

Some insurance plans may cover certain functional lab tests if they are deemed medically necessary or if they are recommended by a healthcare professional.

However, it is important to check with your insurance provider directly to determine the extent of coverage for functional blood serum lab testing and to understand any potential out-of-pocket costs that may be involved.

I do accept HSA and FSA payments.

Functional lab testing can assess a wide range of health concerns and conditions. Some common areas of evaluation include:

1. Hormonal imbalances: Functional testing can help identify hormonal dysregulation, such as imbalances in thyroid hormones, cortisol levels, sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), and more.

2. Nutritional deficiencies: Testing can reveal deficiencies in essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that play a vital role in overall health and well-being.

3. Gut health: Functional testing can provide insights into gut health by assessing markers related to digestion, absorption, inflammation, and the presence of harmful bacteria or parasites.

4. Immune system function: It can evaluate immune system markers and identify potential dysfunctions or imbalances that may contribute to autoimmune conditions or chronic infections.

5. Metabolic health: Functional testing can help assess metabolic markers, such as blood sugar regulation, insulin resistance, lipid profile, and markers related to liver and kidney function.

6. Inflammation and oxidative stress: It can measure markers of inflammation and oxidative stress, which are associated with chronic diseases and overall health status.

7. Energy production and cellular health: Functional testing may evaluate markers related to mitochondrial function, energy production, and cellular health.
