the period is the fifth vital sign

In 2015, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) named the menstrual cycle the 5th vital sign.  This landmark moment ranked the quality and health of menstruation as important of a health indicator as changes in body temperature, pulse, breathing rate, and blood pressure. This changes the approach of practitioners championing the tracking and use of menstrual cycle data as an indication of a menstruator’s overall health.

Through education and practice with my students and clients, we assess and treat hormone health and menstruation from the 5th vital sign framework. I teach body literacy, symptom mapping, cycle tracking and FAM under this mission.

I work with hormone health from a client-centered mindset with the understanding that YOU are the expert on your body and your health. I provide education to help you learn how to work with your monthly cycle rather than against it while offering support around harmonizing your hormones so that you can experience symptom-free, painless cycles.

I call this “period peace.” My educational model revolves around using evidence-based, non-invasive, side-effect-free, diet, and lifestyle DIY tools and skills to transform your cycles. I am all about empowering menstruators to learn body literacy in order to heal hormonal imbalances and manage hormonal disorders.
